Mississippi Traffic Laws

Mississippi's traffic laws are not much different than traffic laws that characterize the southwestern region of the United States. Mississippi allows higher speed limits than most other states, and not surprisingly issues more speeding tickets than the national average. 35 percent of tickets issued were for speeding over the posted limit by at least 15 mph. The second biggest reason motorists are ticketed is because they drive recklessly, or because of a technical issue – the most common being a broken taillight. Other common infractions include changing lanes while in an intersection, and failing to signal. These are Mississippi's most commonly violated traffic laws.
