Traffic Signs

The most common traffic violations in Mississippi are running stop signs, ignoring posted speed limits, violating road rules, ignoring one-way street signs, passing in no-passing zones, and failing to stop at pedestrian crosswalks. Regulatory signs – especially "no U-turn" signs, are the most violated street signs in the state. Officials issue more citations for ignoring these signs than they by a large margin. The signs that require the driver to maneuver in a certain way will always be black, white, orange, yellow, or red. Failing to abide the directions on a sign in this color is an actionable offense. You cannot be ticketed for disobeying a green or blue sign because these are informational – disobeying them is impossible.
