Mississippi Organ Donation

By choosing to become an organ donor, you give the gift of life to those individuals most in need. In MS, there are more than 1000 people in end-stage organ failure that desperately need an organ transplant. However, only in between 40 to 60 people donate each year. By becoming an organ donor, you can eventually offer life-saving organs and tissue that can enhance up to 50 lives. There is no age restriction for those who wish to become organ donors in Mississippi, but individuals under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian's consent. The organs most in demand are the heart, the liver, kidneys, lungs, intestine and the pancreas. You can donate any of these organs as well as tissue and corneas. You can register through the Mississippi Donor Services, or through the Mississippi Motor Vehicle Commission.
